Domaine Richou, located in the Coteaux de l'Aubance, has been run by the same family for three generations.

The vineyard is located in the ‘Black Anjou’ area, with the ‘black’ surname reflecting the dark schistose soils on the Armoricain massif. Vines have been grown here for several centuries thanks to the special soil characteristics and the Atlantic-influenced climate.

The estate’s wines owe their spicy, fresh and mineral characteristics to their schistose, volcanic soils of origin, combined with a microclimate created by the close presence of the Loire river.

Our wine making philosophy :

each year the wines produced faithfully express the environment in which the grapes matured. The balance in the estate’s wines stems from respect of the soils and the vines; the wine’s character is forged by the men and women who work the land.

This sensitivity and care results in wines which are refined, elegant, mineral, full of freshness and which are enticingly inviting.

Here’s to subtlety! Here’s to lightness! Here’s to conviviality! Here’s to wines which communicate all of these so wonderfully!
